In each competition, there are several technical challenges presented to the participating teams. These challenges aim to test and evaluate particular abilities of the robots outside of an official match.
There will be three challenges and a demo in this year’s SSL North American Open: Passing and Shooting Challenge, Pass/Intercept Challenge, Mixed Team Challenge, and the NAO 3-Team Match Demo.
The first three challenges will be identical to RoboCup 2012 challenges. The details of how they work can be found here. The mixed team games will be shortened and using a 2 vs 1 format, with the single team needing to pass at least once to score.
The NAO 3-Team Match will take place between three teams in rotation. The game will take place in 3 periods of 7 minutes. In each period two teams will face each other. In each period, different teams will compete against each other. The winner of the match is the team which scores the most goals, regardless of who they’ve scored against!
